The Headmaster's brief (aka despairing plea!) was to do something 'more colourful' so it would stand out on a show stand, what can he have meant lol?</p><p>Anyways.....</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-o4iv71ZkVuPfoQqpu3TOYoKY6LB6WbUKkf52azxhP8jgfCSK1p_Nl7FCUFsGZnud7qt84nGMsMhcK-cXhbY9GY6ihyphenhyphenJ3EIRnLgRjHYywL3M1P_yo17_D5KlU5NhQUqq80ngq8Wdvjk0/s1024/Photo%25252020160517123523479.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-o4iv71ZkVuPfoQqpu3TOYoKY6LB6WbUKkf52azxhP8jgfCSK1p_Nl7FCUFsGZnud7qt84nGMsMhcK-cXhbY9GY6ihyphenhyphenJ3EIRnLgRjHYywL3M1P_yo17_D5KlU5NhQUqq80ngq8Wdvjk0/s300/Photo%25252020160517123523479.jpg" id="blogsy-1463484933446.4988" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="300" height="173"></a></div><p> ...one display board, more colourful, but boy do those cats look miserable - I was combining them with a great Vertical Greeting set from Impression Obsession and had difficulty in finding one that looked cheery enough for the Happy Birthday greeting!</p><p>So, as I had the stamps lying about my desk together with the Bird Crazy Set (which also need to have a 'more colourful' display board), I indulged myself with a couple of cards that are absolutely not 'more colourful' but which I think suit the stamps better.</p><p>First, the cats....</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDtt0lwRNJtMtRY4nxkhWG_KBHxNR-xfDNPMRotBjqmbKS0UBYz7GF7NraoIEdgrOy1k3F3Ig05GIi49ed8QWoWppLwL1AQs3vxefKlFuzJXMM7W7qVkr-U_8LAYcZpzMG1YpQAttlLYI/s1024/Photo%25252020160517123523609.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDtt0lwRNJtMtRY4nxkhWG_KBHxNR-xfDNPMRotBjqmbKS0UBYz7GF7NraoIEdgrOy1k3F3Ig05GIi49ed8QWoWppLwL1AQs3vxefKlFuzJXMM7W7qVkr-U_8LAYcZpzMG1YpQAttlLYI/s300/Photo%25252020160517123523609.jpg" id="blogsy-1463484933393.4856" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="292" height="300"></a></div><p> ....and then the birds.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixSFDFVmDcdDBm9ahfXJZVDZ1sq0aZG_-wYhJA5y4jtoQz0figHN69vxizCX8bGMQlcxt67nfBsYn7ZRXeTMpTjsfVdqvhUyV2a57BUBlzGHDK-9pUH2edI64gIHNW22O1RAPDZmvG8vQ/s1024/Photo%25252020160517123523725.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixSFDFVmDcdDBm9ahfXJZVDZ1sq0aZG_-wYhJA5y4jtoQz0figHN69vxizCX8bGMQlcxt67nfBsYn7ZRXeTMpTjsfVdqvhUyV2a57BUBlzGHDK-9pUH2edI64gIHNW22O1RAPDZmvG8vQ/s300/Photo%25252020160517123523725.jpg" id="blogsy-1463484933437.2993" class="aligncenter" width="300" height="211" alt=""></a></div><p> Both simply stamped onto old book pages with some added Gathered Twigs Distress ink, my new favourite brown, a greeting from Dylusions for the cats with some twine, some Candied Apple Distress ink on the beaks and a greeting created with the Stepping Stone Alphabet from Hero Arts for the birds, and a fair bit of fussy cutting later.... <p>Hello all, it has been a very long time since I created anything just because....... Sometimes life is so hectic, the 'must do' and 'have to' gets in the way of the 'want to' and you forget why you got into this hobby in the first place!</p>
<p>After a long break I have returned to Scrapbooking in a 12x12 format and I thought I would share these two layouts which weren't made as workshop projects or for display, but simply because I had the photos and the germ of an idea.</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeGWuvTFpmTpXQOLZBJ67kicSBlmOWa8_JIPNH5l1svuYM-MzzOt5j8Hmdu0libDtFlPJTY_63eY5wLDkzAs4Xj7gqdJNteIMKE5rQ6xze-dhGgdd8U77M4TGAg5MXS9c1pmFmA0CrJIQ/s1024/Photo%25252020160423143609835.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeGWuvTFpmTpXQOLZBJ67kicSBlmOWa8_JIPNH5l1svuYM-MzzOt5j8Hmdu0libDtFlPJTY_63eY5wLDkzAs4Xj7gqdJNteIMKE5rQ6xze-dhGgdd8U77M4TGAg5MXS9c1pmFmA0CrJIQ/s300/Photo%25252020160423143609835.jpg" id="blogsy-1461418892054.4521" class="aligncenter" width="295" height="300" alt=""></a><br>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: left; clear: both;">I found these photos languishing on my phone but when I went to print them the photo paper slipped in the printer and they printed over two sheets. I decided to use them anyway, just as they were chopped in strange places, but I felt they actually added to the chaotic feel of the layout. The papers I used are a mix of Prima's Garden Menagerie and Lost and Found from 7Dots Studios with a bit of washi tape and some Kaisercraft stamps. The whole thing came together really quickly and I am pleased with the finished page.</div>
<p> </p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdo7loF-GoRbd8xbXMMsAzII7WwUcxHQshfbEgsD4SK_uu0xpSJAULenKVVq2iyQjQ2UqGIwx-JK2wlJ29zSTZs3vxMYiCY-UxwItrnM42ITnmJgBA_AK1acv8phff9dMoz55o46xGVAQ/s1024/Photo%25252020160423143610002.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title=""><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdo7loF-GoRbd8xbXMMsAzII7WwUcxHQshfbEgsD4SK_uu0xpSJAULenKVVq2iyQjQ2UqGIwx-JK2wlJ29zSTZs3vxMYiCY-UxwItrnM42ITnmJgBA_AK1acv8phff9dMoz55o46xGVAQ/s300/Photo%25252020160423143610002.jpg" id="blogsy-1461418891987.0178" class="aligncenter" width="297" height="300" alt=""></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: left; clear: both;">The second layout started with these striking photos of the Water of Leith Walkway in Edinburgh, a city very close to my heart. I was born in Edinburgh, was a student at Edinburgh University and the Headmaster and I started our married life in the city some 36 years ago. Like all cities where underneath their public persona there often lurks a darker side, Edinburgh had it's share of less attractive areas which have been redeveloped and transformed over recent years. Each time we return we find ourselves amazed at the changes, sometimes so significant we find ourselves lost without familiar landmarks, but thrilled at the vitality emerging from the desolate.</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: left; clear: both;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: left; clear: both;">I decided to go with the reflections theme with this layout using my last remaining sheets of my all time favourite Dreamer collection from 7Dots Studios. The base paper was a little darker than I wanted so I gave it a light wash of gesso to knock it back a bit, the dies are from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Planner range by Kelly Purky, the stamps from Kaisercraft, finished off with the title from the reverse of the base paper, reversed. I was really pleased with how this one turned out, exactly as I envisioned - a rare occurrence for me lol!</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: left; clear: both;"><br></div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: left; clear: both;">Thank you for joining me, I won't stay away so long again as I have resolved to make time for more projects 'just because'.</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: left; clear: both;"> </div>

I had a couple of stunning photos of the central walk through The Meadows in Edinburgh which I grew to know well as I strode between the grotty flat share I was living in and my classes at the University many, many moons ago. The old Royal Infirmary might be long gone, to be replaced by beautiful sleek apartments but the peace and beauty of the tree lined paths remains a very happy Autumn memory of light filtering through those russet leaves.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqGm1L-yCsTvjXUTzDPjq0bze3SFcq6TAFsd5ADAWEyMRjxIH1lWfY1LW7BdRLD4Bko3amFXO1Lsr0EZ2Neu-BLZiLEoQbBf77FSl1thjsp8Y9mp0DNn7YHUNjyB_QfNz_bqWH5rFslzI/s1024/Photo%25252020151112201931344.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title=""><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqGm1L-yCsTvjXUTzDPjq0bze3SFcq6TAFsd5ADAWEyMRjxIH1lWfY1LW7BdRLD4Bko3amFXO1Lsr0EZ2Neu-BLZiLEoQbBf77FSl1thjsp8Y9mp0DNn7YHUNjyB_QfNz_bqWH5rFslzI/s300/Photo%25252020151112201931344.jpg" id="blogsy-1447359577083.226" class="aligncenter" width="296" height="300" alt=""></a></div><p>I almost titled this post Leftovers #2 as the background paper is leftover BoBunny, and the leaves were stamped using Tim Holtz Falling Leaves (an old favourite), then hand cut from leftovers from Kaisercraft's Scrap Yard papers or die cut with Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Leaves and Mini Tattered Leaves using random old book pages coloured with Distress Inks. The Kraft cardstock was leftover from next Saturday's Christmas mini book workshop project plus some other bits from my scrap tray. There is always something deeply satisfying to my thrifty Scottish blood when I can create a project out of almost nothing lol!</p><p>A very basic layout if a bit time consuming, but I did have a very relaxing afternoon which is the point really. </p><p>Thank you for joining me, I hope to see you here again soon x</p><p> </p><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>snazzyoriginalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720980762294511557noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4897064410233253825.post-42593188226368380052015-11-10T22:00:00.000-08:002015-11-10T22:00:05.141-08:00Leftovers<p>Well, long time, long time and all that. I have just checked and it is almost 12 months since I last posted anything on this blog. It was always intended as a place to record projects I made just because.... clearly there has not been a lot of that going on in my studio! So, time to make some changes, and here is a journal page I made in my A4 journal simply because I had a leftover photo and some lettering from the title of a 12x12 layout I had been working on for a workshop.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtxWBkfLM7vG8LG_vNTMHnQyAWIgpVoD9rYVR1CTHk_ozsBzPOeaPmitcRiKSvoCkwgcF3SYbjBxouQyHZffzzVE56OITa6u_DMqQsQA8FMzm-hMBOEewKzgIphrOfSxO3jB8g1fdQbos/s1024/Photo%25252020151110200018711.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtxWBkfLM7vG8LG_vNTMHnQyAWIgpVoD9rYVR1CTHk_ozsBzPOeaPmitcRiKSvoCkwgcF3SYbjBxouQyHZffzzVE56OITa6u_DMqQsQA8FMzm-hMBOEewKzgIphrOfSxO3jB8g1fdQbos/s300/Photo%25252020151110200018711.jpg" id="blogsy-1447185623844.6519" class="aligncenter" width="211" height="300" alt=""></a></div><p> The background was created with lots of very thin layers of Distress Paint in Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door, Fired Brick, Seedless Preserves and Black Soot scraped on with an old plastic room key. Once the paint was dry the colours were a little too bright for me so I used a baby wipe to work in some Black Soot paint, wiping almost all of it away dulled the colours but still allowed them to show through. I then used BoBunny The Written Word stamp set to add random patches of stamping in Onyx Black Versafine with black texture paste through Tim Holtz Stripes Layering Stencil. A few lines stamped with the edge of the plastic card with Antique Bronze Distress Paint and a few splatters of the same, watered down a little, and it was time to add some Sizzix Die cuts, also Tim Holtz, and highlighted all the texture with Treasure Gold in Rose Quartz.</p><p>The letters were leftovers from a layout title I had die cut so I simply glued them to a couple of leftover strips of black cardstock.</p><p> I had only allowed myself an hour to play and I was quite pleased with the end result. I am going to try really hard to make an hour every week to make something, anything, just because.....</p><p>I hope you will join me x</p><p> </p><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>snazzyoriginalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720980762294511557noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4897064410233253825.post-373396460888153902014-12-07T08:57:00.001-08:002014-12-07T08:57:50.382-08:00Art Journaling Sunday<p>Hello everyone, thanks for dropping by especially since I have been absent for far too long.</p><p>Mostly I have been busy with workshop projects and just can't seem to find the time to craft just for my own pleasure. I do plan to be around in blog land much more regularly in future, with lots more step by steps and videos too.</p><p>Meantime....on the first Sunday of each month there is an Art Journaling session in Snazzys Studio between 11am and 3pm. There is no need to book your space, just drop in and join us. All you need is to want to have a go, bring your own journal if you have one, but if not we can provide everything you need for just £5 for the session, and that includes your tea/coffee and biscuits.</p><p>Being December, and with Christmas fast approaching, this month I wanted to create a rich page with a touch of metallic. I have been admiring the beautiful backgrounds using Brushos being shared in blog land, but with a studio full to bursting I really can't justify investing in them. So, having applied a layer of gesso to the blank page with Cut and Dry foam, I thought I would experiment by adding a few sprinkles of Polished Pigments/Primary Elements from Luminarte, whilst the gesso was still damp. I then immediately lightly spritzed the powders with water until they were wet enough to blend together, tilting my journal to get them to run a bit.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfNnHTWrSDAcLO9XkLsaVT1BsEeQ_xOsjZkMrwAbrYC1CS8XyRk5h5U7fruyBbkh04x1XoyW8jBXcuNwvigSYsXBiH3yH-HrC2STQU2k119j-paoiGoBJWIdwN0jRNpiMHbSaBS0OKbhw/s1024/Photo%25252020141207165742.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title=""><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfNnHTWrSDAcLO9XkLsaVT1BsEeQ_xOsjZkMrwAbrYC1CS8XyRk5h5U7fruyBbkh04x1XoyW8jBXcuNwvigSYsXBiH3yH-HrC2STQU2k119j-paoiGoBJWIdwN0jRNpiMHbSaBS0OKbhw/s300/Photo%25252020141207165742.jpg" id="blogsy-1417971471929.8337" class="aligncenter" width="224" height="300" alt=""></a></div><p> I was really pleased with the effect and the photo certainly doesn't do justice to the richness of the colours or the shimmer!</p><p>As often happens, I then got so carried away with some of my favourite Hero Arts stamps, Ranger Embossing Powders in Copper and Gold and Versafine inks in Crimson Red and Olympia Green, I forgot to take photos of all the steps but I think it is pretty self explanatory.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBkzCzwTo5otIwtMUUJofN37185qfEGHnWGmqcUsm6-LxrTEaDvD_-Yqxv4mECXTwHpbEJY7umJWCuFCOBuizu7GhmK7xDuVXCksigPKJ5XJF6kYx3lSZDewt0FmlA2ORX6yrXoi1-9Rg/s1024/Photo%25252020141207165742.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title=""><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBkzCzwTo5otIwtMUUJofN37185qfEGHnWGmqcUsm6-LxrTEaDvD_-Yqxv4mECXTwHpbEJY7umJWCuFCOBuizu7GhmK7xDuVXCksigPKJ5XJF6kYx3lSZDewt0FmlA2ORX6yrXoi1-9Rg/s300/Photo%25252020141207165742.jpg" id="blogsy-1417971471967.1533" class="aligncenter" width="200" height="300" alt=""></a></div><p> The only downside I found using the Luminarte powders in this way was they acted a little too effectively as an anti static powder and so made it quite tricky to get the inks to stamp cleanly and the embossing powders to stick evenly. I didn't really mind as the Hero Arts stamps were a little too modern for the vintage effect I was looking for, so I think the problems I had actually helped me get the look I wanted. Serendipity in action again lol!</p><p> This was the last AJ session for 2014 but the first of the new year will be on Sunday 4 January when I am looking forward to starting a brand new journal using an old book as my base. Many thanks to all of you who have dropped in to journal in 2014, new journal or old, beginner or regular, journal or old book, I do hope to see you in the studio in 2015.</p><p>Have a very Happy Christmas and good fortune to you and yours in 2015 xx</p><p> </p><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>snazzyoriginalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720980762294511557noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4897064410233253825.post-2036518362414608342014-02-28T04:05:00.002-08:002014-02-28T04:05:35.615-08:00A little coffee....Hello there, long time no post but I thought I'd stop by and share a couple of projects I have been working on.<br />
<br />
I started with these.......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimD6aKPsTQ4BTkhbhxCraDsVYmnNV-cEZTVPrmNhTGJvg9xruPdNXD-WqIdcswTPcjnn_69xKOya4DfQKOruQzrXbiFY9zqB5sZKIY5Va0l5KPqPGglqcrzUeapha7LZ1wwE51F4qNrCo/s1600/Coffee+Collage+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimD6aKPsTQ4BTkhbhxCraDsVYmnNV-cEZTVPrmNhTGJvg9xruPdNXD-WqIdcswTPcjnn_69xKOya4DfQKOruQzrXbiFY9zqB5sZKIY5Va0l5KPqPGglqcrzUeapha7LZ1wwE51F4qNrCo/s1600/Coffee+Collage+2.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
the wood block stamps are from Inkadinkado, and the Polymer stamps are all Hero Arts from the latest 2014 release. I added these.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeE5lAKubTWnVaBrPdWoB0z16jcUenRQcJHKR_nWDFDeIScEpz0W9gdGVFbloG4CeEN7IKg8-wtMAETGTq7UQQyG72jc6XvP-9mCWbKXnnfYFitk9OPOn0SqHCqC-5C-eel-9CwltToBc/s1600/Coffee+Collage+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeE5lAKubTWnVaBrPdWoB0z16jcUenRQcJHKR_nWDFDeIScEpz0W9gdGVFbloG4CeEN7IKg8-wtMAETGTq7UQQyG72jc6XvP-9mCWbKXnnfYFitk9OPOn0SqHCqC-5C-eel-9CwltToBc/s1600/Coffee+Collage+3.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
stamping the images with Coffee Archival ink onto white tissue, chopping some leftover Bazzill Classic papers in Patina into strips. I used peacock Feathers and Frayed Burlap Distress inks for the focal pieces and the canvas board was randomly painted, using Cut & Dry Foam, with Bark, White and Ocean acrylic paints from Eco Green Crafts, then softened with a damp baby wipe.<br />
<br />
This was the end result...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpig9OeNPx2WSryM3oNbWG-kHAf4Xl8d1IYgB6nuTWPZLJSzCCocuFuDUAd7Um4PIv2cb1znMeAGg43Tt5OGKmNVRGtoFr6L_2BwrVhyW8Bq3uO2fgX136JG3QKOi-8bNme-FnfBTE9xI/s1600/Coffee+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpig9OeNPx2WSryM3oNbWG-kHAf4Xl8d1IYgB6nuTWPZLJSzCCocuFuDUAd7Um4PIv2cb1znMeAGg43Tt5OGKmNVRGtoFr6L_2BwrVhyW8Bq3uO2fgX136JG3QKOi-8bNme-FnfBTE9xI/s1600/Coffee+Collage.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
which I was very pleased with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Although this project started as a home decor piece for myself I have been asked to run it as a workshop at Snazzys and you will find details over at the <a href="http://snazzystampingandscrapbooking.co.uk/page47aa.html" target="_blank">workshops</a> page of Snazzys main website.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also used one of the new Hero Arts polymer plates, CL758 A Little..., for some cards for my regular cardmaking workshop at Snazzys so checkout that on the <a href="http://snazzystampingandscrapbooking.co.uk/page47aa.html" target="_blank">workshops</a> page too, but here's a peek at one of them...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
... a good Mother's Day card I think.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by xx</div>

I am trying not to remember how long it is since I shared anything here, no excuses just life and a lack of mojo I'm afraid.<br />
<br />
Finally, I have made a little project that wasn't intended as a workshop, with an idea that started out exactly as it finished up - a remarkable achievement for me lol!<br />
<br />
I gathered together a leftover canvas board, texture paste, stencils, gesso, scraps of paper, stamps (of course), inks, embossing powders, washi tape and liquid acrylics.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIWZE-t_yERhIr5PrGjWh1czg7VoXL0olPU7sY2UyAb6fwUXZvXawZbGdsELhPu8nRMgXSc946JqDLAg3kEr2IBC03GM__br3SOAuQu0PPXk4bvgQx6hiAAO0UI0QMHw7yM-bo8lklLTM/s1600/Graffitti+Canvas+Board+11+Jan+2014+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIWZE-t_yERhIr5PrGjWh1czg7VoXL0olPU7sY2UyAb6fwUXZvXawZbGdsELhPu8nRMgXSc946JqDLAg3kEr2IBC03GM__br3SOAuQu0PPXk4bvgQx6hiAAO0UI0QMHw7yM-bo8lklLTM/s320/Graffitti+Canvas+Board+11+Jan+2014+004.JPG" width="318" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started by adding texture with gesso and texture paste - most of which was lost as I got a bit carried away with some papers left over from a 6x6 paper pad which were just randomly cut into strips and layered in place with Eco Green Crafts Matte Medium. I then added some strips of washi tape and got to work with some Kaisercraft background stamps and WOW detail embossing powders in Black and White. I then dripped some liquid acrylic in a very vibrant green plus some random splatters and topped that with some further stamping on some scraps of white vellum plus the title, which is a freebie stamp from the cover of a recent edition of Craft Stamper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made a variation if this project in my Journal which I am thinking of using as a blog background if I can work out how to size the image to get it to load - techie son required.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really enjoyed making this one, lots of ink, paint and stamps with my favoutite black & white papers, right up my street and if it's your kind of thing too Snazzys have asked me to run a workshop on Saturday 11 January - full details over at <a href="http://snazzystampingandscrapbooking.co.uk/january.html" target="_blank">http://snazzystampingandscrapbooking.co.uk/january.html</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Finally, last week as I was chopping up cardboard boxes for the compactor I had a smidge of an idea for a project using JOFY15 stamps.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW6-jhFFCn-LDUFpNf-rZeUbrebXBjxV0tV6W_YPdGyvOpGchQm20Xq7w_obK_germHxjmZPnaB_JnZrrNp1mrk6BuIeiArHmRZLKf-Wnxv3MOB4tNbeUCw6Gdze9I3Ey96e9Z0nXzinA/s1600/P1040097+Tweet+Tweet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW6-jhFFCn-LDUFpNf-rZeUbrebXBjxV0tV6W_YPdGyvOpGchQm20Xq7w_obK_germHxjmZPnaB_JnZrrNp1mrk6BuIeiArHmRZLKf-Wnxv3MOB4tNbeUCw6Gdze9I3Ey96e9Z0nXzinA/s320/P1040097+Tweet+Tweet.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I peeled some of the layers of the cardboard flap to reveal all the ridgy bits and covered the whole surface in gesso - this gave me a bit of a key and kept the colours true when I swiped a random assortment of Distress Paints onto the surface working it into the ridges witha baby wipe - what did we ever do without those!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I stamped out the birdhouses and birdies onto some scraps of white card, coloured them with a water brush and Distress Markers and cut them out. I then stamped Hero Arts S5601 Newspaper Backround onto more scrap card and over stamped it with the leaves from the JOFY plate. I coloured these in as before, cut them out and shaped them a bit too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then it was simply stamping the branches from the same plate onto my base, again coloured with Distress Markers and arranging all the bits I had cut out. I had a couple of empy spaces so I stamped and inked the 'tweet,tweet from the stamp set and filled the gaps. Some googly eyes, garden twine and a bit of spare black mountboard late and I was done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was surprised how much I enjoyed myself and how quickly this little project came together from scraps. Very satisfying to my mean Scottish blood!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Will try not to leave it so long next time xx </div>

<br />
I promised myself this year I would experiment with more colour in my journals, especially colours I <u>don't</u> like, and here are the first two pages made during Snazzys AJ Sundays at the end of May & June.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpWuwTkkcaD-27csNwG6cpSmWWZ0-tu_AwDANdAS0YcMinGKfzYfGohOY5da1tm7JVPYxpN3fSW2z3z5gpZYryzODTwLxY15QwolotR74cX2eSPHJkwD4xr8Id0CcD0vunE2r1PiPqV9E/s1600/Red+journal+Page+2+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpWuwTkkcaD-27csNwG6cpSmWWZ0-tu_AwDANdAS0YcMinGKfzYfGohOY5da1tm7JVPYxpN3fSW2z3z5gpZYryzODTwLxY15QwolotR74cX2eSPHJkwD4xr8Id0CcD0vunE2r1PiPqV9E/s320/Red+journal+Page+2+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Back in the dark ages, when I was a girl, I was very pale skinned with very blonde hair and my Mother used to dress me in red to 'cheer' me up. Problem was add a bit of heat, or a bit of sun, or a bit of cold, or a bit of exercise never mind embarrassment and my skin could exhibit every shade of red going lol! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Consequently, I <u>loathe</u> red, never wear it, rarely work with it, don't own anything red. What better colour to start with - once I had been shopping.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Postbox Red Dylusion's Ink Spray, Ranger's Distress Inks in Barn Door, Fired Brick & Festive Berries plus Tsukineko's Versafine in Crimson Red & Satin Red all found their way to my studio and onto this page - I did buy some Cherry Pie Ink Spray too as it looked pretty red on the label but on an empty white journal page it looked pink ;o( </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was in need of sunglasses to cope with all the colour so added some Gessso stamping with Kaisercraft Background stamps, texture paste through a couple of Prima Stencils, Chequerboard & Crackle, (which turned red as I hadn't dried the Ink Spray, interesting effect tho') and Tissue Tape inked with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink to try and tone it down a bit - that went well then lol!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think I quite like the page but I still <u>loathe</u> red!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The following month it took me all of two seconds to come up with a colour I dislike <u>almost</u> as much as red. That would be orange then, very closely followed by yellow - haven't worked out what it's for other than when a circle of it appears in the sky from time to time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Set me thinking...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3Oo9rmxCYs1eNHRKSLh3OYuc48L9IzCuUj_O_6BXOdaCSig4H9xoJ0T3hd_W4RWmFuavtDFzWS_PHWoxLPGPLF-cBG9qHpIwksCSl03gE60SDnTNKpNdTxFt5zHDR_3NuB9u-UHIVo-Y/s1600/Blog+Post+Hello+Sunday+30+June+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3Oo9rmxCYs1eNHRKSLh3OYuc48L9IzCuUj_O_6BXOdaCSig4H9xoJ0T3hd_W4RWmFuavtDFzWS_PHWoxLPGPLF-cBG9qHpIwksCSl03gE60SDnTNKpNdTxFt5zHDR_3NuB9u-UHIVo-Y/s320/Blog+Post+Hello+Sunday+30+June+002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Dylusions Ink Sprays in Lemon Zest, Pure Sunshine and a touch of Sqeezed Orange with Scattered Straw & Mustard Seed Distress Inks, topped with Wild Honey Distress Paint scraped on thinly and it was certainly orange, extremely orange. I added some of last month's red Distress Inks to try and warm it up (I am becoming my Mother!) then consoled myself the beautiful Donna Downey stamps from Unity, I had finally treated myself to would hide most of the sins.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then covered everything with a couple of thin coats of Gesso to create a sort of sunray effect and to try and calm things down, then stamped Hero Arts new Stamp your Story stamps in Archival Ink in Saffron, Distress Ink in Ripe Persimmon and Picket Fence Distress Paint. I then added the flowers and words with stamps from PSX (there's a blast from the past!) and MM in my favourite Versafine Onyx Black ink.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I like this page marginally better than the red one but am so grateful I told myself I need only use each colour once in my journal, what a relief!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for persevering with my inky exploits.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Back soon xx</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here's what I used on each sample ......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl0kWsAktHeZQcirNJZf07HMezENLHw4rvHWVP-rpdoB0GKjOF94TasekLgj95LhI7xHGVGmOkCJzCknhBLa3Xd5uVrZw9mKjGS55Dpv8yKo6SFvcGMWAjmghHMiW2ax9X0-4ImRBYJAw/s1600/Materials+DP+post+18+June+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl0kWsAktHeZQcirNJZf07HMezENLHw4rvHWVP-rpdoB0GKjOF94TasekLgj95LhI7xHGVGmOkCJzCknhBLa3Xd5uVrZw9mKjGS55Dpv8yKo6SFvcGMWAjmghHMiW2ax9X0-4ImRBYJAw/s320/Materials+DP+post+18+June+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
.....Distress Paints in Bundled Sage, Victorian Velvet, Antique Linen, Weathered Wood & Broken China, Treasure Gold in White Fire and a credit card style hotel room key. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have just started (another) journal, this time a smaller A5 size so I can take it on holiday - no immediate plans but a girl can dream can't she! It has thinner paper than either of my current A4 journals so I was a bit worried about paint seeping through from one page to the next so I thought I'd try scraping the paint onto the page really thinly (with the hotel room card of course) to avoid this and two things happened.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAhkTJxNGqp219h3Clg-LxYFrTdXxA-SJ0iSTPuuDcAhf6AniCfe4gQg93ReqbSzGWL2EtijNbpZ8x4LdGgBaN4tfeYqwpaJUKc8yWVgGX9JOsBSZ30H51eDSRYicYs2nxffpEZ8pVU4k/s1600/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAhkTJxNGqp219h3Clg-LxYFrTdXxA-SJ0iSTPuuDcAhf6AniCfe4gQg93ReqbSzGWL2EtijNbpZ8x4LdGgBaN4tfeYqwpaJUKc8yWVgGX9JOsBSZ30H51eDSRYicYs2nxffpEZ8pVU4k/s320/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+002.JPG" width="149" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Firstly, the paint dried almost instantly and one of the features of DP is that once it's dry it is permanent, and secondly, the paint was so transluscent you could clearly see all the colours I used in the layers underneath. Oh my I liked that and found it was true on the texture paste bits through a <a href="http://www.snazzysstore.com/blanks-masks-canvas-etc/" target="_blank">Prima stencil</a> too..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKt2q8klC2kCd1Bx_MbGpxS_TGI4BAFvwEfG5RYn1fe3g_pbZB8-6s4dSl3d-sprAxorZ4I4c1oCCcEyvPk95LL1OTmHvua954BYbogD6k_cIGGxV72og0ucbK-galrdwT5ng7gBn31As/s1600/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKt2q8klC2kCd1Bx_MbGpxS_TGI4BAFvwEfG5RYn1fe3g_pbZB8-6s4dSl3d-sprAxorZ4I4c1oCCcEyvPk95LL1OTmHvua954BYbogD6k_cIGGxV72og0ucbK-galrdwT5ng7gBn31As/s320/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+003.JPG" width="156" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...and here's the finished journal pages</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiON5n1-P16ZTGfk9VitPTJ7bNHW1-G3Wyr5-C0xv4kDrF6NxzqGHr9eF7-rbFCvOZburEF-9uShLm_Ohzkk4zSOrJXMHlVrAsKPrZxhxrpy-s1eVl1bzUyofRQC-opnI9EeSAp67kZnfM/s1600/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiON5n1-P16ZTGfk9VitPTJ7bNHW1-G3Wyr5-C0xv4kDrF6NxzqGHr9eF7-rbFCvOZburEF-9uShLm_Ohzkk4zSOrJXMHlVrAsKPrZxhxrpy-s1eVl1bzUyofRQC-opnI9EeSAp67kZnfM/s320/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...with stamps from <a href="http://www.snazzysstore.com/jofy/" target="_blank">JOFY's Spring Collection</a> from PaperArtsy stamped in Tsukineko's Versafine in Onyx Black and some detail picked out with an Inkessential's White Pen.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It set me thinking about what would happen if I added the paint slightly more thickly...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuzEvUtEYFbDQIhQ3TbxM127eS27Rm0FSzhtfzwQotUe8n7ynSqxj6P5c6iq57QP_KjTBj7Us80VFvooGE3aUT5o79f_mnczD0gjC1nogmRgxa_FxFvnm7m5aGvLLKJVP3hndcQIo17b0/s1600/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuzEvUtEYFbDQIhQ3TbxM127eS27Rm0FSzhtfzwQotUe8n7ynSqxj6P5c6iq57QP_KjTBj7Us80VFvooGE3aUT5o79f_mnczD0gjC1nogmRgxa_FxFvnm7m5aGvLLKJVP3hndcQIo17b0/s320/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
.....still transluscent but slightly less so.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghZ9w_q2tHuK-dnNugMeTh5-aycnKI1WHcFaTgj5M3nUoMGNaauv9vHAxN2rmLlOF_aWk_0_Hx8lcwIduFRYIpR0yBUsDNtTORaOqaoTC0CzT5rOJZu1AG3B1vLN5Yrbvb11d0nXf2LHE/s1600/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghZ9w_q2tHuK-dnNugMeTh5-aycnKI1WHcFaTgj5M3nUoMGNaauv9vHAxN2rmLlOF_aWk_0_Hx8lcwIduFRYIpR0yBUsDNtTORaOqaoTC0CzT5rOJZu1AG3B1vLN5Yrbvb11d0nXf2LHE/s320/DP+Blog+Post+18+June+005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I finished with texture paste again through a stencil from Prima, stamped with a fabulous image from <a href="http://www.snazzysstore.com/chocolate-baroque/?sort=featured&page=1" target="_blank">Chocolate Baroque's new Punky Flowers plate</a> and WOW's Platinum Detail Embossing Powder with a touch of Treasure Gold. Nice effect.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally my 'what if's' led me to applying the paint more thickly still but then it didn't dry so quickly and....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBbuGoAkGHCTKcYR1MvQIpihvFp4iYCzrXvhER9bgCmHNdHUHV6x_bBackDyv7Ndxkr1pWJEFzUNMBZkokra93KJ0vp2wd_7IuhUeG9hPZoHKu7aDtH_yJBFfoUf5U3j0GpBk5-Usbs2k/s1600/Distress+Paint+samples+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBbuGoAkGHCTKcYR1MvQIpihvFp4iYCzrXvhER9bgCmHNdHUHV6x_bBackDyv7Ndxkr1pWJEFzUNMBZkokra93KJ0vp2wd_7IuhUeG9hPZoHKu7aDtH_yJBFfoUf5U3j0GpBk5-Usbs2k/s320/Distress+Paint+samples+002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...I loved this effect. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Still some transparent bits showing off the layers below, but solidly opaque in other areas with the wetter layers scraped back off in parts so texture colour and layers. Heaven. I finished off with the same stamp, stencil etc as the earlier experiment and turned it into a really clean & simple card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I learned Distress Paints .......</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
don't <u>have</u> to be grungy - you can keep all the layers pastel, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
don't <u>have</u> to be opaque - you can scrape it on thinly and have transluscent layers, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
don't <u>have</u> to be used with water - not a drop used here,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
don't <u>have</u> to be applied with a brush - just add the paint directly to an old plastic card,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
don't <u>have</u> to be dried between layers - semi dry doesn't mix to create mud and does give texture! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's all for now, be back Saturday with Part 3 of my Distress Paint Experiments - so many products to <strike>play with</strike> research, so little time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
A few weeks back I was <strike>having a little play</strike> carrying out important research for Snazzys with some new products which had found their way to my desk and I thought I'd share the results here ....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4mH6ilgaYkE9f07E6lYM6Iek2lR6YQSEz6HAl8qpfqWvrxVEy5mSKTaUdSwsxkjqskRg41Kc9cFSYWF3vm2dYceWeVjvEpWtfNjhyphenhyphenW8LlKbsETMbF9X_nU_OqxSaLEfUhs-qAbDERObs/s1600/Distress+Paint+samples+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4mH6ilgaYkE9f07E6lYM6Iek2lR6YQSEz6HAl8qpfqWvrxVEy5mSKTaUdSwsxkjqskRg41Kc9cFSYWF3vm2dYceWeVjvEpWtfNjhyphenhyphenW8LlKbsETMbF9X_nU_OqxSaLEfUhs-qAbDERObs/s320/Distress+Paint+samples+007.JPG" width="237" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is simply a 7" x 5" canvas board which I covered with Ranger's Antique Linen Distress Paint and whilst that was still wet, added DP in Walnut Stain, Broken China and more Antique Linen, one at a time at the top of the board, spritzed with water and allowed to run, drying between layers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then added some texture paste through a Prima Crackle Stencil, dried it, and with the stencil replaced, inked with Broken China Distress Ink at the top and Walnut Stain at the bottom. background complete in less than 10 minutes - result! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The stamps are from <a href="http://www.snazzysstore.com/dylusions/?sort=featured&page=3" target="_blank">Dylusions Monster Mash</a> and I made a cover for the bell jar from Studio 490 Clearly for Art, heated and curved around a coffee cup to add dimension. The eyeballs were triple layer embossed in the centre using a Versamark Pen as was the monster's tongue, again to add a bit of dimension and contrast. The quote is also from Dylusions, this time the Christmas Words plate - you just never know when your Christmas stamps will come in handy lol!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, I had intended to stamp the tree from Dylusions other new release, <a href="http://www.snazzysstore.com/dylusions/?sort=featured&page=3" target="_blank">Mischevious Malcolm</a> to hang the bell jar of escaping eyeballs from but, having stuck the monster down with good old Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue (therefore never to be unstuck), I hadn't left enough space. Change of plan and a few copper jump rings and matching chain had to do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I so wanted not to like these paints but they are fantastic and allow you to create background effects, very simply, in a way which would not be possible with other acrylic paints I have used. Addicted then lol!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I will be back on Thursday with Part 2 of my Experiments with Distress Paint and Part 3 will follow on Saturday. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for looking xx</div>

Hello there. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Those of you who know me well will recognise my addictions below - <strong>stamps</strong> (of course), black ink (preferably Tsukineko's Versafine in Onyx Black), backgrounds, <strong>'nothing' stamps</strong> (not stamps of nothing that would be really silly, but stamps that are not of something in particular therefore versatile), really nice smooth white paper (ideal for <strong>stamping </strong>on), <strong>really fine detailed stamps</strong>, layers, <strong>alphabet/word stamps</strong>, very little colour and certainly no strong colours - other than black & white. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You're getting the theme now lol! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD0iFmZYCNb91E4SfNz8FfuMVgofR2yjzHmqyeJijREFdhc1g-8qv6qZ74agJy8pibbct_aP-pqlR2rTU5Jj-unk3fsAXTwwPNnAmV0jWvVC3N-BgYFme2JqI4I1WvbblyV7OXnKGvByI/s1600/Journal+Pages+24+Feb+2013+004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD0iFmZYCNb91E4SfNz8FfuMVgofR2yjzHmqyeJijREFdhc1g-8qv6qZ74agJy8pibbct_aP-pqlR2rTU5Jj-unk3fsAXTwwPNnAmV0jWvVC3N-BgYFme2JqI4I1WvbblyV7OXnKGvByI/s320/Journal+Pages+24+Feb+2013+004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Even when I journal or scrapbook I find myself needing <strong>stamps</strong>, can't doodle, never hand write, never draw - can't, it's why I <strong>stamp</strong>, never use strong colours - other than black & white!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The page above is very typical of the sort of journal page I enjoy creating, even though it does include some of my very messy handwriting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, nothing wrong with creating things just because you enjoy the process, it's called a hobby! It's started me thinking though about why I find myself in the same groove. I have very little time to create so it's easy to reach for the 'go to' products because I know they will work for me, I will relax and be mostly pleased with what I make = good use of scarce time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But is it the best use of my time?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Which brings me to........</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivB6EOJVFBtH-pwNdOwdK53YWSzICli1I5YurtSvlwY2UeuIU5WRUBHtorWxeA-DVWHCXpUCRuQ0sRi0t3_temX5hWy4zEgXX_KinuG1_er-UCBWz028VA-7erdTQfEGNcb8RnjMteyfg/s1600/Journal+Pages+24+Feb+2013+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivB6EOJVFBtH-pwNdOwdK53YWSzICli1I5YurtSvlwY2UeuIU5WRUBHtorWxeA-DVWHCXpUCRuQ0sRi0t3_temX5hWy4zEgXX_KinuG1_er-UCBWz028VA-7erdTQfEGNcb8RnjMteyfg/s320/Journal+Pages+24+Feb+2013+003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
my newest journal which I have decided will be all about my experiments in colour. I am going to make a real effort to use colour, especially those shades I am not so keen on, and hopefully learn something about the best use of my time along the way. Results to follow.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What are your 'go to' products? what would you experiment with? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It's been a long time, but then it is rather a long time since I made anything just because I fancied making it.<br />
<br />
This little heart was just a quick Valentinesy piece which started as an experiment to see what happens if you use Ranger's Distress Crackle Paint in Picket Fence on white Sticky Back Canvas.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh_-v8poN9w5cYn9ti4kVyUJYlE932CquIQAUJBFUkUedNaEuCvImnyeA0uDKHq7ES9m5NX5cNel_IYsz27i4r4RhnhIPlVSX8pSgmavm2k8CnmZas9HEK25OmmBiCV-5VcABa9OROfr4/s1600/Valentines+Heart+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh_-v8poN9w5cYn9ti4kVyUJYlE932CquIQAUJBFUkUedNaEuCvImnyeA0uDKHq7ES9m5NX5cNel_IYsz27i4r4RhnhIPlVSX8pSgmavm2k8CnmZas9HEK25OmmBiCV-5VcABa9OROfr4/s320/Valentines+Heart+002.JPG" width="224" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, it gave me a very fine crazed, rather than crackled effect, which I loved but it was very subtle, possibly magnifying glass territory lol! So I added a spritz of Dylusions Vibrant Turquoise ink spray, which leeched beautifully into every little crackle, and then added my Stampotique Falling Hearts stamp in Versafine Deep Lagoon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really liked my canvas heart so had to make a little something to add it to. So, one Wendy Vecchi Art Parts heart and word, smothered in Lake acrylic paint from Eco Green Crafts with some of their Artists Spackle through a Dylusions Harlequin stencil, plus Viva's Inca Gold in silver to highlight the texture. But, still lacking something, I swiped a corrugated metal set of wings with the Lake paint, on a baby wipe as I had alrady washed my brush, some more silver highlights and I was done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivvHjQJ5-G2zDCFzIL9xbsZmhUvMPMv_iG0Y-DPIkQ0XlLpL23-Few0qEnkrdcZWhI5VK6Z_W4dcPntQ_J0waUCk7Zp60Fyz2KBI5YRhEVC9kcEbJl67aCQqm9nHNuC7Oy_JqmWVi4XOw/s1600/Valentines+Heart+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivvHjQJ5-G2zDCFzIL9xbsZmhUvMPMv_iG0Y-DPIkQ0XlLpL23-Few0qEnkrdcZWhI5VK6Z_W4dcPntQ_J0waUCk7Zp60Fyz2KBI5YRhEVC9kcEbJl67aCQqm9nHNuC7Oy_JqmWVi4XOw/s320/Valentines+Heart+001.JPG" width="276" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not a bad little project for less thn 45 minutes play.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Back soon xx</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
PS I added the little heart brad to balance the word 'Love' as it could only go just there after I discovered that if you put your finger on the crackle paint before it is dry it just lifts straight off. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You have been warned lol!! </div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy New Year and here's hoping for everything you would wish for comes your way in 2013.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This time last year I made myself a Mini Resolutions Journal with just six resolutions.......</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
.....and because I know me so well, a seventh...... KEEP IT UP! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, no prizes for guessing how that went but, I have awarded myself a 'must try harder sticker', and here's how this year's Resolution's journal looks..... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If at first you don't succeed and so on lol!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway, today I made one more project than I made yesterday, and it was just because I wanted to.... .</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Last Saturday the afternoon workshop I taught at <a href="http://www.snazzystampingandscrapbooking.co.uk/" target="_blank">Snazzys</a> was all about <a href="http://www.premiumartbrands.com/categories/Pan-Pastels/" target="_blank">Pan Pastels</a>. I was trying to illustrate my belief that their versatility means just having a few colours of the pastels need not limit what you can create, but actually allows you to really explore all the techniques you can use with them.</div>

This was the final project of the afternoon using Bright Yellow Green and Pthalo Green Pan Pastels, Tsukineko Versamark and Versafine Onyx Black inkpads plus some of my favourite masks and stamps from the brilliant Dyan Reaveley's <a href="http://rangerink.com/?product=dyan-reaveley-dylusions-stamps" target="_blank">Dylusions</a> collection.......and with thanks to the lady at Artstamps Cornwall who gave me the idea, my new favourite tool, a Derwent Eraser Pencil.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Often I fail to do anything with my workshop pieces but I set to on Sunday and added a quote which says 'Home is where you can say anything you please because nobody pays any attention to you anyway' - anyone with a brood of children will know exactly how that feels lol!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today is my Mum's 84th Birthday, and the first birthday in the past six that we have not spent at least part of the day with her. Sadly, she now lives in a nursing home almost 500 miles away (she said she didn't want to emigrate to join us at her age lol!) so we do not see her as often as we would like. She suffers from dementia and so time has become a little meaningless to her but, as is often the case, her recollection of earlier times is much more vivid than the recent past.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Each time we visit I try to make her a little book including photographs from past events with spaces so we can fill in the details together. This one will have to wait until I get the chance to visit later in the Summer so it looks a little bare at the moment, but here are a few of the pages...... </div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7OrN-pkotGDoFvQGeWGb5eSjpgv6-MQZBjVvoCV2Aukg7vZI2Hs-gKTzaeLq1MgiN79Sf0MLkgC-ia5XefcDZhXqkZAPcX9hyphenhyphen5YWyuDaQMJGbAI3la-OKxM8AhHt6vcDLkug_pxef7zo/s1600/Studio+490+Art+School+2+007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="153" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7OrN-pkotGDoFvQGeWGb5eSjpgv6-MQZBjVvoCV2Aukg7vZI2Hs-gKTzaeLq1MgiN79Sf0MLkgC-ia5XefcDZhXqkZAPcX9hyphenhyphen5YWyuDaQMJGbAI3la-OKxM8AhHt6vcDLkug_pxef7zo/s320/Studio+490+Art+School+2+007.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you know I am more than a little fond of Wendy Vecchi's wonderful Studio 490 stamps and Art Parts but have been so busy with workshops at Snazzys recently I have been collecting rather than using them, an entirely unsatisfactory state of affairs lol!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I have decided I need to make something with every Studio 490 plate I have bought - 'tis all right I haven't got all of them. Yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I managed to use four of my stamp plates - Rubber Stamp Art (65), Art By Hand (68), Supplies for Art (74) and Art School (85) in this project. So I then needed a whole host of Art Parts, from Art Frames, Supplies for Art Co-ordinates, Art School Co-ordinates and Tools for Art to use with the stamps. The Art Parts were a huge extravagance but I have absolutely loads of leftovers which I will use in future projects. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjudh4Fsno7ruu6Fk3FquNJXuZ4WTKR4SHN24P9TVgWgE1TDmXKscZdec7FU0r7WFIysfke2Wi2aT4qAXsl-5YHqCyhwgnWLuZw8CoQTl_sQVJWZvm1H9W0iMQOMiZpaXT6ATU6yIq32RE/s1600/Studio+490+Art+School+2+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="303" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjudh4Fsno7ruu6Fk3FquNJXuZ4WTKR4SHN24P9TVgWgE1TDmXKscZdec7FU0r7WFIysfke2Wi2aT4qAXsl-5YHqCyhwgnWLuZw8CoQTl_sQVJWZvm1H9W0iMQOMiZpaXT6ATU6yIq32RE/s320/Studio+490+Art+School+2+006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I created the tub to hold all my pencils,brushes and paint from a rectangular Art Part piece cut in two to fit with the stamp end of the rubber stamp Art Part with the joins hidden under twine. I added a layer of Picket Fence Distress Stain with some more stain in Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans on top before the Picket Fence layer had completely dried so some of it would lift and give the effect of being worn at the edges. I used Picket Fence as the base for the bottles too with some colour on top to represent the ink and paint, this time once it had dried, then I Triple Layer Enbossed both to give the appearance of glass - in the right light and at a distance maybe but hey ho!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHTkEv0bRK98x5bCbXKVP8rkikjchTHx1u2K_lsaE-9f3bMt6V5UMwJgOmGVFrgScaYi5YA4nc3ds0T1x0gUmCrnUQh18qgKOFU93XW-D869EFnBtc0RvcIcxx7KjqwXH_uyRBgulu4i8/s1600/Studio+490+Art+School+2+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHTkEv0bRK98x5bCbXKVP8rkikjchTHx1u2K_lsaE-9f3bMt6V5UMwJgOmGVFrgScaYi5YA4nc3ds0T1x0gUmCrnUQh18qgKOFU93XW-D869EFnBtc0RvcIcxx7KjqwXH_uyRBgulu4i8/s320/Studio+490+Art+School+2+005.JPG" width="194" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The ruler and stamp also got the Picket Fence treatment with Wild Honey Distress Stain over the top then both were stamped with Ranger Archival Ink in Coffee and Jet Black respectively. The stain remover container got more of the same treatment this time with just the blackened cap Triple Layer Embossed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Same old, same old with the pencils and brush and the tube of paint got the Triple Layer Embossed treatment too, except the cap which got a smidge of Paint Dabber in Silver instead.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I painted the inset with Ranger Adirondack Paint Dabber in Pitch Black then stamped the disclaimer in Versamark and embossed with WOW Bright White EP...... before the paint was properly dry! No patience, hence the messy speckles which I decided to live with. The pen nib is of course Tim Holtz Ideaology.</div>

The outer frame was covered in Vintage Photo Distress Stain and over stamped with Jet Black Archival ink, all the labels were similarly stamped onto Claudine Hellmuth's Sticky Back Canvas with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink applied to the edges.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wish I had taken the time to distress the edges of more pieces before I stuck it all together (with Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue) as it is all a bit too clean for my taste - but I did finish it lol!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that I finally have my internet and laptop back in full working order - 12 days, yes twelve WHOLE days with no service has had a seriously detrimental effect on my Twitter, Facebook & Blogland surfing habits - I can finally share my demo bits from Snazzys stand at Shepton Mallet, which seems like eons ago, with the lush PanPastels and some of my favourite Studio 490 stamps. The stamps were Botanical Art, She Created Art & Be Inspired...Make Art. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are more photos from Shepton Mallet over at <a href="http://sosimplysnazzy.blogspot.com/">So Simply Snazzy</a> but I also wanted to share some pieces with Pan Pastels and the Stampotique and Octopode Factory stamps I just had to buy at Ally Pally last month........</div>

</div>This is a project that has been lingering on my desk for a few weeks, and although I finally finished it ahead of Valentines day, our unexpected trip to Scotland meant I didn't get around to sharing it. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifKtc6s9UvyKeKLPoEzMeDCVGXZH9Qpi6eXjHinKP-fWXUC1NtL0WUxfKRtuINxRAYUgouFzke6ItzMPMoFidUruXsYo3XlW-09ddQeABaSeIKKxwKqnTuJVVjrbk0R_oFut3DJheIK4k/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifKtc6s9UvyKeKLPoEzMeDCVGXZH9Qpi6eXjHinKP-fWXUC1NtL0WUxfKRtuINxRAYUgouFzke6ItzMPMoFidUruXsYo3XlW-09ddQeABaSeIKKxwKqnTuJVVjrbk0R_oFut3DJheIK4k/s320/015.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I used several different blanks, a couple of Tim Holtz bits and my last few pieces of a favourite 7Gypsies paper (called Requiem I think) and various inks and paints.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBQXyEt1_wpplQgukT4RAQmdO8n10O_-E5SU37VYKB7cNNEvfk1H4EFwRz578sjQTRJmSb3Hh8GTOdb2LmHNyam5h80YhkaDDbODUjPSqR_d6qlMpv5As9Wxvd4Oz6kqTU596gP-IJQ4Q/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBQXyEt1_wpplQgukT4RAQmdO8n10O_-E5SU37VYKB7cNNEvfk1H4EFwRz578sjQTRJmSb3Hh8GTOdb2LmHNyam5h80YhkaDDbODUjPSqR_d6qlMpv5As9Wxvd4Oz6kqTU596gP-IJQ4Q/s320/003.JPG" width="258" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I covered the square blank from Eco Green Crafts with their paint in Sand and added a few smears and smudges of Ranger Distress Inks in Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany - neither were quite the right colour but together..... The hearts were inked with Aged Mahogany Distress Stain coated with Fired Brick Distress Crackle Paint then smeared with Viva Inca Gold in a light gold shade.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I painted the edges of the word blank with the same paint and then covered the front with the scriptiest - maybe not a word but you know what I mean - scrap of my precious paper, sanded the edges with an emery board then smeared with the two red Distress Inks and smidge of Brushed Corduroy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I stamped the Love Wordblock stamp from Darkroom Door in Versamark onto the scraps of paper with the Harlequin background and embossed them in Ranger's Detail Brass Embossing Powder and then did the same with the heart images from the Hero Arts Untitled Love plate. The remaining scraps of the paper I then tore into strips, inked the edges and stuck them to the base with Rangers Matt Medium.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I stamped an unmounted script stamp from my stash inked with dabs of both red Distress Inks, (yes, together on the same stamp!) dried that and then used Versamark and the Detailed Brass Embossing Powder too. I then cut up the Wordblock words and stuck them and the heart images down with more Matt Medium.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I hung the hearts in the aperture using fine twine and secured them, one hanging towards the front and one the back, by lining the aperture with Tim's Tissue Tape. I then went a little mad with the Tissue Tape and wrapped both the outside of the square and the word with it too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I added some inked 7Gypsies ribbon to an Ideaology token, and an inked Ideaology Ticket attached with a Memo Pin, a few more general smudges of ink and Inca gold and then left it alone - the bit I always find hardest - and it was done.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">When Don was ill tall son was a constant and invaluable support to his father. He quietly stepped into the breach watching his young bro in endless football and cricket practices and matches, helped his now 19 yr old brother find a job that would work around his college course and generally was the glue that helped the rest of us keep going. His positive influence on both his younger brothers (and his sisters) will last a lifetime, leading by example and so generously giving of his time and himself with no fuss, and all without being prompted. If his younger brothers and sisters continue to follow his lead we will have fine young men and women to be proud of........ and siblings with an unbreakable bond.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We had a lovely day out in Cardiff, the Christmas lights were then a work in progress, but still very beautiful, and it is such a lovely city to stroll around. We ended the day with coffee at <a href="http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/the-pancake-house-cardiff">The Pancake House</a>, a little cafe in the Brewery Quarter which is open until 10pm most evenings. It is run by a lovely young lady who makes the most wonderful Cinnamon ice cream (amongst others), and the pancakes looked pretty wonderful too!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Hi there, thanks for stopping by. Apologies in advance for the very rushed photos and post but it's a bit hectic here today with lots of workshop projects to be photographed for the website too - and the Headmaster is not known for his patience when it comes to my aversion to gadgets and technology!! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Anyway, I thought I'd share the results of my Sunday make with Echo Park's Apothecary Emporium. I don't normally 'do' Halloween but I just loved these papers and the new blank houses from Creativ UK - they are a steal at just £2.95! So....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjruRqNDDW8J9BjeqP7EV08lsN4uPmVJf5VAoKqCTR2AsXSvlNgGZJZXFzLkqTlw3w7p3rXAMIk_9rANXR_s1jS6FY0yB_M4WrddUxdZ3ETf_lciggtHr1l_jSYXoZ2KqxhIS1yEptjsM/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjruRqNDDW8J9BjeqP7EV08lsN4uPmVJf5VAoKqCTR2AsXSvlNgGZJZXFzLkqTlw3w7p3rXAMIk_9rANXR_s1jS6FY0yB_M4WrddUxdZ3ETf_lciggtHr1l_jSYXoZ2KqxhIS1yEptjsM/s320/007.JPG" width="215" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">....a quick coat of Eco Green Black Acrylic and a selection of scraps of the 12x12 papers from the Apothecary range to line the compartments. Some 7Gypsies amber bottles and around a third of the stickers from the matching 12x12 cardstock sticker sheet. Some on plastic paper and some on black cardstock so they could be arranged more easily within the piece.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLF9ajHXXfjUpTY1HRCFq5frk6OTAnC_U8IW9zMxXHkk5hkwF3E6F4eMAT7ZDuoMJwfIx_5OAnMLQlOeQD8yUgqGjxArGt16SyeAU0DhUjnS62C35XqmstnxrPRo6dqX3at97lB0Bii1w/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLF9ajHXXfjUpTY1HRCFq5frk6OTAnC_U8IW9zMxXHkk5hkwF3E6F4eMAT7ZDuoMJwfIx_5OAnMLQlOeQD8yUgqGjxArGt16SyeAU0DhUjnS62C35XqmstnxrPRo6dqX3at97lB0Bii1w/s320/008.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then the fiddly bit. I made the bead spider from a selection of glass beads from the Cosmic Shimmer range - a really good video showing how to do this can be found <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/snazzyoriginal">here</a>, it takes only 20minutes to make and if I can do it anyone can ;D. I also used black shrink plastic to make some bats, a witch and a skeleton stamped with Hero Arts CG392, Skeleton Dancing. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A bit of strange project for a gloriously sunny Sunday afternoon but I quite liked the end result. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Can't stop, still unpacking all the stock for Port Sunlight this Saturday, ready for me to repack it all again tomorrow evening. If you are going to the event do drop by stand 19A and say hello!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Hello, this little chap has been roosting in my workshop together with his friends from 7gypsies Conservatory papers awaiting assembly into a class project. Well, I finally taught the workshop last Wednesday and I thought I'd let you have a peek before he and his friends come home with me to roost in a box frame in my study.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The base and rectangles are all just cream mountboard covered with layers of the Conservatory papers and overstamped with Prima background stamps - the chicken wire stamp is a long time favourite, so useful! I added some Vintage Photo ink around all the edges, Ideaology tickets, Grungeboard flourishes, shrink plastic eggs in a frayed twine nest and twigs from the garden outside the store to finish. If I get a chance this weekend I will finish the butterfly version from the same papers which will hang alongside this one.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Thanks for visiting xx</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
